One more human rights defender got arrested




On 28 of June human rights defender Aliabbas Rustamov got arrested. He is the head off the Yasavul Law Firm.  Before his arrest he had critisized the government on his facebook page. He has mentioned about country’s problems on his facebook page.

He has also supportedthe nominee from opposition: Jamil Hasanli. He was actively participating in the rallies of Jamil Hasanli.

Before his arrest Rustamov had applied to become a counsel at the court proceedings of prisoner Anar Mammadov. But notary created problems for him to get Anar Mammadov’s agreement signature.

Aliabbas Rustamov is charged on presentation of a bribe to an official for the commitment of an intentional illegal act by him.

If you had an opportunity to meet president, what would you tell him?

I remember as a kid I would read a lot of books. I started with reading different tales. One thing I never forget and would love to apply to my country today. In those tales King (Padishah) would wear old clothes and would become unrecognizable. He would walk around the city, talk to people ask them questions about "How the King manages the country? What do you think of King?" People would never recognize him and share their problems or positive opinions about the King. At the end King would go back to his kingdom and start doing reforms for the best future of his kingdom. But today? Do president really hears people's problems?
