Arrested member of NIDA: Rashad Hasanov


Rashad Hasanov young intelligent from Lankaran got arrested

Rashad Hasanov is a Board of member of NİDA Civic Movement.

NIDA Civic Movemenet was founded by group of  in 2011 and it is not related with any political parties. Member of Nida wants to live in a democratic country which is fair and equal to everyone.
But Azerbaijan Government persecuting members of NIDA by arresting its members.

NIDA's members are actively protesting against death soldiers in non-combat conditions. On January 12 and January 26 they gathered in centre of Baku (fOUNTAINS sQUARE) and protested against soldier deaths. During the protest one of the men with broken leg was giving interview how soldiers are beaten and killed by their governments but police held him from broken leg and took into the police  car.
Protests of NIDA is getting attention of international community that's why government is doing everything to stop NIDA from taking active part in society.
On March 1, 2013 NIDA memebers applied to the Baku City Executive Power to let them know that they hold a mass protest in March 10.
Authority was afraid that this protest will be large, therefore to prevent the protest thay started to arrest the active members of Nida such as Mammad Azizov, Bakhtiyar Guliyev and Shahin Novruzlu.
On March 14 they Rashad Hasanov was arrested. He was charged with illegal possession of explosives and drugs.

Background information about Rashad Hasanov.

Rashad Hasanov was born on May second ,in 1985 in Lankaran. Secondary education he got in Lankaran private High School. Ühen he ü he took part in Azerbaijan National Science Olympiad and took an honour price and golden medal in Mathematics. He finished school with honours diploma.

Rashad Hasanov got his tertiary education in Middle East Technical University in Turkey (ODTÜ). Within university years he established football team consisting of azerbaijanians. The team under his guidance won bronze medal in its first year (2008-2009) And golden medal the next year of its existing. Besides, in 2008-2009 he led the ODTÜ Azerbaijani students Association, which included over than 100 members. In 2009-2010 he was vice-president of Azerbaijani Students and Alumni Association including over than 300 members.

In 2002 he was invited to International Mathematics Olympiad in Glasgow, but because of health he couldn’t participate in it.

However being graduant from ODTÜ in 2010, Rashad gained MA programme in “International Security and terrorism”, he couldn’t continue his education in this. Because The Ministry of Education of the Azerbaijan Republic refused to finance his education according to “State programme for study of azerbaijani youth abroad for 2007-2015 years”

During the parliement elections in 2010, Rashad Hasanov actively runs the election campaign of young nomenee Bakhtiyar Hajiev and co-ordinated more than 100 volunteers participating in this campaign.

Rashad was one of the members of Positive Change Youth Movement established on november 10,2010 by the attendace of more than 35 volunteers, and he was twice selected to the Board of the movement from  March,2011 till May,2012. And he also actively participated in the campaign “Support Baxtiyar” created for supporting of political prisoner Baxtiyar Hajiyev

In 2011 Rashad Hasanov was one the board members of the “Defense Committee of Youth’s Rights” which 9 organizations were represented in. And during 5 months activity here he could  be the leader of subcommittee “Code 13- Property”. He made a report with chairman of Public Association for Assistance to Free Economy Zohrab Ismayilov on “The statistics and the map of demolishing” by supporting British Embassy. On March 17, 2012 he was one the organisators and active participants of the first concerted mass-meeting of the Defense Committee of Youth’s Rights after long years.

In May 2012 he left Positive Change Youth Movement for reaching wider audice and joint to N!DA civic movement. And in September, 2012 he was selected to the board of the N!DA movement

On November 4, 2012 Rashad Hasanov was one of the founders of Youth Assembly by the representation of approximately 50 active youths.

In August, 2012 he took part in the “Forum of Azerbaijanians living in Europe” held in Prague,furthermore he was the member of co-ordination Committee in it.

In october,2012 Rashad Hasanov was one of the responsible people in inquiring conveyed by “Frontline sms” programme in “Education without curruption” project, which intended to define the level of bribery in the universities of Azerbaijan with the donation of IREX

He is co-ordinator of “El”movement “transition from authoritarism to democrasy” project since March 2013

If you had an opportunity to meet president, what would you tell him?

I remember as a kid I would read a lot of books. I started with reading different tales. One thing I never forget and would love to apply to my country today. In those tales King (Padishah) would wear old clothes and would become unrecognizable. He would walk around the city, talk to people ask them questions about "How the King manages the country? What do you think of King?" People would never recognize him and share their problems or positive opinions about the King.
